Canmore Cave Tours
Banff Adventures Unlimited offers cave tours departing from Canmore that descend into the cave on Grotto Mountain. Highly-trained, internationally-experienced guides lead adventurers through twisting passageways to large chambers, mineral formations, animal bones and fossils. Tours are physically challenging but no experience is necessary. Cave tours run year-round, rain or shine.
The Canadian Rockies Adventure Centre offers professionally-guided cave tours that leave from Canmore. Adventurers are given the opportunity to explore Rat's Nest Cave and learn about the natural history of this exciting underground world. The Canadian Rockies Adventure Centre also offers a wide range of exciting adventures year-round in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. During summer months, activities offered include wildlife viewing, river rafting, rock climbing, guided hiking and more. In the winter, activities such as ice walks, snowmobiling, ice fishing and ice climbing are featured. Adventures are offered in a variety of locations including Banff, Canmore, Kananaskis Country, Golden and Icefields Parkway region.
Descend underground into the mysterious Rat's Nest Cave. Situated under Grotto Mountain near Canmore, passages undulate below ground for 4 km. Discover a world of stalctites/stalagmites, animal fossils and sparkling clear water on guided excursions. Tours include an adventure tour with rapelling, and explorer tour without rapelling, and a canyon to cave tour that includes a hike to Grotto Canyon. Tours include coveralls, helmet, gloves and head light. While tours are strenuous, no experience is necessary. Tours operate year round as caves are naturally insulated for consistent temperatures.
