Canmore All Galleries
With a street-front location housing the works of more than 20 visual artists, the Elevation Gallery exhibits a constantly changing array of painting, jewellery, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, ceramic and glass. Artists range from emerging to established, all working with some elements of contemporary style. Daily 10 am - 6 pm. (Closed Mon in shoulder seasons.)
This gallery, run by the Canmore Artists and Artisans Guild, has been in existence since 1980. There are seven CAAG member shows, seven private shows and several community and local schools shows per year. All media are represented in the gallery including fine arts, photography, textiles and sculpture. Mon to Thu 11 am - 8 pm, Fri to Sun 11 am - 5 pm.
Carter-Ryan Gallery is home to one of Canada’s most prolific contemporary Aboriginal artists, Jason Carter. Both a painter and soapstone carver, Carter illustrated "WHO IS BOO: The Curious Tales of One Trickster Rabbit". And 21 of his 66 illustrations, on 30" x 40" canvases are now on display. Musical and theatrical acts change weekly in the back half of this 1700 sq ft gallery. Tues to Sat 10 am - 5:30 pm, Sun noon - 4 pm.
Established in 1980, the Avens Gallery features original works by both established and up-and-coming artists from the local area and across the West. The gallery prides itself on highlighting outstanding, and frequently changing, displays of paintings, glass sculpture, clay, wood, metal and bronze. Open daily 11 am - 5 pm with extended summer and Christmas hours.
Dana trained as an architect and worked for 10 years in that field before switching to art. For the next 20 years she designed and manufactured painted silk fabric and artwear made of handpainted silk, sold through her Toronto-based business Artacious Inc. Moving to Canmore in 1997, Dana became a studio artist working in acrylics, pastels, watercolors, monoprints, mixed media and painted silk -- the subject of her solo show at the Canmore Library Gallery in September.
Virginia's new personal gallery is located in Spring Creek Mountain Village in Canmore. Collectors from around the world are drawn to the warmth and vibrant colours of her paintings. Here in this sunny spacious gallery, her art has many forms and price ranges...from Art Cards to original paintings. Daily 10 am - 3 pm.

In the frame shop: experienced staff with 25 years experience offers a wide selection of frames for mirrors, objects, needlework, paintings and prints, specializing in the handling and care of original artwork.
