Fun comes to Canmore in the middle of February when the town hosts its annual carnival. Highlights include the Trappers’ Ball, the Grab A Slab ice carving competition, log sawing competitions and beard growing contests. It’s free and fun and open to the public.

The Canmore Folk Music Festival is Alberta's longest-running folk festival and is held on the Heritage Day long weekend (Saturday through Monday) in the beginning of August. The festival has become one of Canmore's most successful annual events and boasts a weekend of performances, food, artists and community spirit.

A Celtic festival presented annually on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend, including highland dance, piping and drumming, heavy sports, sheep dog demonstrations, massed bands, clan tents, Celtic wares and traditional food and beverages.

The heated festival tent starts the day with a pancake breakfast moves to lunch and a beer tent with non-stop entertainment.The evening Ceilidh is a spirited celebration of music and dance, kitchen-party fashion. It features a variety of acts for your entertainment. There is a food concession and two bars.

The Vic Lewis International Band Festival is a non-competitive music festival that welcomes school bands from Alberta to come out and perform and attend workshops. Festivities will be held at Canmore Collegiate High and the Canmore Recreation Centre. Evening gala performances will be held at the Oh Canada, Eh?! Theatre.

As part of the Canmore Winterfest, the Canmore Classic Sled Dog Races welcomes teams from across North America to participate in this event. Food and drink concessions will be available including a souvenir booth.

The 2008 Canmore Classic has been canceled. Races may or may not continue in 2009.

A magical forest of decorated trees and lights sets the scene for a variety of events over 4 days to bring together families and people from Canmore, Calgary and area. Groups of school children visit for special Christmas crafts and entertainment, curlers take part in a Festival bonspeil, families come to see the trees and experience the enchanting atmosphere, seniors join us for tea, and the adult highlight of the weekend is a Saturday night celebration of food, drink and music amongst the trees. Throughout the event we are lining up non-stop entertainment of many genres.

Special events for families include Sneak-a-Peek evening, Christmas crafts and Breakfast with Santa.

The entire event is hosted at the Canmore Golf & Curling Club. Canmore Rotary welcomes tree sponsors, event sponsors and attendees alike!

What Town goes cross country skiing for four days on their Main Street?

Canmore Alberta does! We will be Celebrating the Haywood Ski Nationals in March with the Canmore Ski Nationals Community Celebrations. There will be a Cross Country Ski Track on Main Street for four days and many exciting events and fun activities. These activities will include Welcome Ceremonies, Fast and Female, Jackrabbit Races, public usage time with free rentals from Trail Sports, Canmore Nordic Centre Athlete fun races, Dog sled activities and much, much more. Join us Downtown Canmore for these great events in March. This event is presented by the Canmore Destination Marketing Fund and The Canmore Downtown Business Association (BRZ).
