Sep 03 to Nov 30 From May through November, Banff National Park is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a calendar full of special programs and events, including RCMP musical rides, a family campout, retro swimming events at Banff Hot Springs, Banff Legacy Trail opening and much more. The park, which was started in 1885, is Canada's oldest national park and is part of the a part of the Rocky Mountain UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sep 05 Occurring annually on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, this festival showcases Celtic culture through a wide variety of events, including piping and drumming competitions, highland dancing, heavy sports contests and sheep dog demos. The events are capped off with a traditional Scottish ceilidh, complete with food, dancing and live entertainment.
Sep 12 This annual half marathon is arguably one of Canada's most scenic race routes and raises funds for the CAUSE, a local non-profit international relief and development organization. The race is held every September and is run along the Bow River and through the Three Sisters Mountain Village.
Sep 18 5 Peaks hosts several races across Canada, including this one in Canmore, which is one of five in central Alberta. Held at the Canmore Nordic Centre, the race has four categories: sport course, enduro course, half marathon and a children's challenge.
Sep 30 To commemorate the anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, every school in Canada is invited to participate in the Terry Fox National School Run Day. This event will be held simultaneously at schools large and small from coast-to-coast. With millions of schools participating, this could one of the largest single-day events in Canadian history and will allow our youth to show all of Canada the power they have to help others.
Oct 15 to Oct 16 Every mid-October, the town of Canmore celebrates the migration of the golden eagle in the Canadian Rockies. Event-goers can participate in guided nature hikes and learn more about these birds of prey.
Nov 05 to Nov 07 The Vic Lewis International Band Festival is a non-competitive music festival that welcomes school bands from Alberta to come out and perform and attend workshops. Festivities will be held at Canmore Collegiate High and the Canmore Recreation Centre. Evening gala performances will be held at the Oh Canada, Eh?! Theatre.
Nov 13 to Nov 14 An interactive exposition showcasing healthy and active living solutions, this annual exhibition features a wide selection of booths, keynote speakers and seminars. On-site child care is also provided.
CLF presents a FREE health expo with interactive exhibitor booths, as well as workshops in the form of presentations or speaker sessions (Workshop Day Pass $10)
CLF is a platform to help attendees make their own healthy choices through information, education and connection.
Dec 31 This annual tradition is Canmore's way of welcoming in the New Year. It is a family oriented event with food, music, bonfires and skating as well as fireworks at midnight.
TBA Three hours of intense skiing that will create a reputation to last a lifetime! What is the Mountain Smoker? It's an epic event to see how many runs you can ski on the Lone Pine in 3 hours.
The current record held by Bob Rankin (1981) is 22 runs in 3 hours (30,000 vertical feet)

TBA As part of the Canmore Winterfest, the Canmore Classic Sled Dog Races welcomes teams from across North America to participate in this event. Food and drink concessions will be available including a souvenir booth.
The 2008 Canmore Classic has been canceled. Races may or may not continue in 2009.
TBA For four days in February, the Cross-Country World Cup comes to Canmore. The event is held at the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park and will feature top skiers from around the world.
TBA Canmore is an ice-climber's paradise with a deluge of accessible ice falls in the area. Beginner's area / demos are at the Junkyards. Mixed climbing clinics are at Hafner Creek. Vendor booths, registration, etc... are at the Canmore Senior's Centre.
TBA Hosted by Yamnuska Mountain Adventures, the Canmore Ice Climbing Festival features skill clinics and competitions. Free public demonstrations will be available, allowing the adventurous an opportunity to try out ice climbing on an outdoor ice wall.
TBA This annual Nordic event is for both ski and snow-show biathlons. Races include individual, short sprint, mass start and relay. The seven day competition takes place at the Nordic Centre in Canmore.
TBA Over the past years with the support from the snowboarding industry, athletes, spectators and sponsors, the YLGRC series has grown to become the most successful, and talked about snowboard series in Canada.

TBA Organized by the Rundle Mountain Cycling Club, the Annual Bike Swap is a great way to get a set of new wheels for the riding season. Bike drop off starts in the morning and the bike sale runs through the afternoon.

TBA Every spring the Canmore Children's Festival features two days full of musical performances, storytelling, crafts, face painting, workshops and balloons, as well as a pancake breakfast and the tooth fairy. Held in May.

TBA Canmore's artsPeak Arts Festival is a festive weekend-long event celebrating all things creative and artistic in the mountains. With many free and colourful events happening, there is something for people of all ages to participate in. Roaming street performers, an artFair, workshops, a community mural project, artWalks, artDrives, concerts, book readings, film screenings and much more are all part of this festive event for the whole town.
TBA The Wood’s Homes Foundation is proud to host the Annual Invitational Golf Tournament at Canmore’s Silvertip Golf Resort. Money raised will go to serving children, youth and their families struggling with mental health issues. The event will include an exciting day of golf followed by dinner and a silent auction. In the past this tournament has raised over $1,250,000 going towards the programs of Wood’s Homes. This year’s tournament will offer an opportunity to support a worthy cause while engaging in a day full of fun.
Jul 01 Canmore's Canada Day celebrations kick off a free breakfast in Centennial Park, followed by a parade and street fest on Main Street, marching band performances in Centennial Park and a wrap up with fireworks at night.
TBA Nestled in the spectacular Rocky Mountains, this racecourse is comprised of a competitive swim in Quarry Lake, a bike course along the magnificent Three Sisters Parkway and a run through paved tree-lined pathways surrounding the Nordic Center. An array of modified race offerings are available for beginner to advanced triathletes.
TBA Parks Day was first celebrated in 1990 and invites visitors to enjoy Canada's National Parks with free admission on the day and a schedule of fun events. In Banff, Parks Day includes a guided stroll up Sulphur Mountain, an Explorer Program, competitions and prizes, a campground threatre program and more.

TBA The World Solo 24 Hour Championship mountain-biking event is held in Canmore during July. The race includes a figure eight course at the Canmore Nordic Centre which can be well viewed along the way by cheering spectators. This much-anticipated event attracts 1,400 athletes, competing in teams, and about 3,000 spectators.
TBA The Canmore Folk Music Festival is Alberta's longest-running folk festival and is held on the Heritage Day long weekend (Saturday through Monday) in the beginning of August. The festival has become one of Canmore's most successful annual events and boasts a weekend of performances, food, artists and community spirit.
TBA Proceeds of the Canmore Rocky Mountain Half Marathon will go towards CAUSE Canada-Canadians Challenging Global Poverty. Participants will race along the Bow River and other trails, offering views of the mountain scenery.
